The problem with the leftists that run Internet-based companies like Google, Twitter and Facebook isn’t that they merely believe in big government and despise everything that conservatism stands for; everyone is entitled to have an opinion, and these left-wingers are no exception. The real problem with liberals such as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is that they actively try to manipulate which content users see, and which content remains hidden. In this way, they go beyond simply adhering to progressive principles and holding personal thoughts as to which direction the country should be going in; they are out to censor information and ultimately use their power to funnel people towards an authoritarian ideology.
After the Natural News Facebook account posted a link to a White House Petition demanding a five-year moratorium on childhood immunizations, Facebook decided to take action. As Natural News founder Mike Adams explained early last month, “Immediately after the story was posted on the Natural News Facebook account – which has over 2.2 million followers – Facebook manually deleted the post and banned nearly all sharing of all posts from Natural News.” (Related: Facebook deliberately censors content on certain topics, including vaccines and immigration.)
Adams went on to say how the Facebook ban was implemented without any explanation whatsoever, and also pointed out how Facebook never seems to censor content from left-wing media outlets such as CNN, NPR and the Washington Post.
But Facebook isn’t just selective when it comes to information that it doesn’t want you to see; it turns out that Mark Zuckerberg is also very particular about what he wants you to see as well. As pointed out by Annalisa Merelli of QZ.com, while Facebook allows you to unfollow Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan if you wish, blocking them isn’t possible.
For those who are unaware, unfollowing somebody on Facebook is a bit different than blocking them. When you unfollow someone, you will still remain friends with him or her but their posts will not appear on your news feed. People often do this if they find a friend’s status updates annoying or excessive, but still wish to stay connected with them. Blocking, on the other hand, makes it seem as though the person’s entire Facebook account was removed and no longer exists. This is the only way to ensure that you will never see this person on the social media site ever again, unless of course at some point you decide to unblock them.
But Mark Zuckerberg has made it so that you can’t block him or his wife even if you wanted to. In fact, trying to do so will just result in an error message that reads, “this profile can’t be blocked for now” with no further explanation.
Given Mark Zuckerberg’s left leaning political views and his open support for big government, it would make sense why some conservative Facebook users might want to block his account. Just a few days ago, Zuckerberg posted a video on his official Facebook page with the caption: “Live with dreamers at my home.”
“We got some bad news yesterday,” Zuckerberg says to a group of three illegal immigrants as he sits with them in his home. “That the government is going to end the DACA program in six months and is now kicking it over to Congress, who will hopefully do the right thing and pass a permanent legislative solution, something like the Dream Act.”
Zuckerberg has been an outspoken advocate of amnesty for illegal aliens, the Dream Act and DACA for quite some time now, along with a wide array of other left wing policies and ideas. But if you want to make sure that you never see this sort of content from the Facebook founder, don’t you dare think about clicking on that block button – it’s against the rules.
