The American Pravda media has once again proven why fewer and fewer people trust them.
In the wake of the most recent school shooting in southern Florida, families, and friends of those killed hadn’t even had time to fully comprehend their loss when the lying little Marxists in the “mainstream media” were hard at work cooking up the next anti-America, anti-gun, anti-Trump, anti-Republican lie.
Namely, that there have been 18 shootings at schools this year alone.
Does that sound like an awful lot? Of course it does, especially when we put it in the context of the most recent mass murder at another U.S. school.
Where did that figure come from? Did the American Pravda media pull it out of thin air? Not exactly; they relied on a gun control group to essentially pull it out of the air.
As noted by Daniel Greenfield at FrontPage Magazine:
Every time a Muslim terrorist shoots, stabs, bombs or runs over Americans, the default response is, “Let’s not jump to any conclusions”. That’s swiftly followed by media spin pieces claiming that the majority of terrorist attacks are really committed by white male Republicans and the Amish based on math so bad that even the world’s crookedest bookie wouldn’t go near it. And anyone who argues that the pattern of Islamic terror attacks is a call for common sense migration reform is regarded as a racist and a coward who wants to destroy the Constitution by blowing a handful of attacks out of proportion.
The same treatment rules for gun-control shills after each mass shooting don’t apply. “…[W]henever a suburban shooting happens, especially in a school, it becomes a clarion call to dismantle the Second Amendment,” he further notes. “And that’s also backed by some of the world’s worst statistics.”
Like this “18 school shootings in 2018” figure.
It was supplied to the American Pravda media by former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun grabbing group Everytown for Gun Safety, which “was being literally true, and false in every other way,” Greenfield noted.
There were indeed 18 shootings at schools this year, but that figure includes suicides, accidental firearms discharges, and shootings in the general vicinity of a school — even when the school building was completely empty. And in about half the shootings, there were no injuries.
But of course, the mainstream media leaped on the statistic because, you know, it fit their anti-gun, blame-it-all-on-Trump-and-the-NRA narrative. (Related: SICK! Deranged Leftist snowflakes hurl insults at father who lost daughter in Fla. shooting because he’s TRUMP supporter.)
The fact is, there has not been a statistical increase in the number of mass shootings, only the perception that there has been an increase. As criminologist James Alan Fox has repeatedly documented, the hard numbers are not moving.
But hey, when you’re not really journalists anymore, you’re Marxist activists posing as journalists, such truths and statistics are boring and do nothing to advance your selfish political agenda.
“Fake statistics like Everytown’s 18 school shootings create a sense of urgency. Nothing manufactures a crisis like statistics showing that the problem is getting worse when what is actually getting worse is the media coverage,” Greenfield writes.
He’s correct. And here’s something else: The Pravda media’s reporting of fake stats as part of a political narrative instead of getting the story right and reporting the truth is not getting us any closer to actually solving the problem of mass shootings.
In fact, it’s preventing us from coming up with a solution because a plurality of the country is whipped into an inconsolable frenzy over these lies. And you can’t talk sensibly to people in a frenzy.
People like Bloomberg have a political agenda, and as disgusting as I find it, he’s entitled to that. But journalists are supposed to see through the agendas and report the facts. When they don’t, which is far too often, the country’s suffering is prolonged, and our problems left unsolved.
